Mail Jobs Overview
- To access the mail job folders and job list, select Explorer -> Mail Jobs from the menu, or if you are already in the LISTSERV Maestro explorer, select one of the job folder nodes in the explorer tree.
- To create a new mail job, select New -> Standard Mail Job from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the parent job folder in the explorer tree).
- To create a new mail job folder, select the desired parent folder in the job folder subtree and select New -> Job Folder from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the parent job folder in the explorer tree).
This page gives you an overview of all your mail jobs. The page is separated into several panes. You can change the size of the panes by grabbing the separator bar between two panes with the mouse and dragging it into a new position.
The left pane displays the LISTSERV Maestro explorer tree, with the "Mail Jobs" subtree. This subtree contains the job folders which in turn contain all your mail jobs.
Job Folders
In the job folders tree, you can freely create new folders, rename folders or rearrange the tree by using drag & drop to move the folders around. If you hold down the CTRL-key when you drop a folder (Command-key on Apple) then instead of moving the folder, you copy the folder to the new parent folder. Alternatively, you can also use the cut, copy and paste commands from the menu.
When you copy a folder, you will also create copies of all jobs in this folder and of all sub-folders (and the jobs in them).
Important: If you delete a folder, then this will delete the selected job folder and all its sub-folders and also all jobs in any of these folders! This operation cannot be undone!
Job List and Message Sequence
If you have selected any of the job folder nodes in the job folder tree, then the top-right pane of the page will display the "Jobs in Folder" tab and the "Message Sequence" tab.
The Jobs In Folder Tab contains the job list with all jobs that are located in the selected folder.
The Message Sequence Tab displays the message sequence to which the currently selected job belongs.
Job Details
If a single mail job is selected in one of the job lists, then the details of this selected job are displayed in the bottom-right pane of the page.
Depending on the state of the selected job, the pane may show the following tabs (not all tabs will be visible for all jobs or job states):
Preview: This tab shows a preview of the selected job's content.
Summary: This tab shows a summary of the selected job.
Sequence Info: This tab shows the message sequence relationship of the selected job.
Overview Report: This tab shows a delivery and tracking statistics overview of the selected job.
The delivery and tracking statistics overview of a job is the first starting point for analyzing the results and effectiveness of a mail job. Clicking on any of the links in the overview opens the List Subscribers Pane for the list that this job was sent to, pre-filtered so that only those subscribers are shown who are associated with the metric you just clicked on. In other words: If you clicked on an open rate metric value, you will see the list of current subscribers who have opened the message. If you clicked on a click rate metric value, you will see the list of current subscribers who have clicked.
Why are the metric values not always clickable?
You may notice that LISTSERV Maestro does not always show a metric value as clickable link which opens the associated list of subscribers. The job must fulfill some requirements for this:
For opens and clicks:
- The job must have been sent to a list or dataset in the subscriber warehouse. Without this, there is no suitable repository for LISTSERV Maestro to accomplish this task.
- The job must have at least personal tracking enabled. LISTSERV Maestro can only associate individual subscribers with tracking-related metrics if personal tracking is used for the job. By definition (and typically also by restrictions that apply to your country), the other tracking types do not allow this.
For bounced and non-bounced subscribers:
- The job was sent with LISTSERV Maestro 7.0-3 or later
- The job must have been sent to a list or dataset in the subscriber warehouse. Without this, there is no suitable repository for LISTSERV Maestro to accomplish this task.
- The job must have automatic bounce handling enabled.
What is the difference between clicking the "bounced" metric and the bounces report?
While the bounces report shows you the bounced addresses as they were collected post-delivery, optionally combined with bounce reasons, the click on the "bounced" metric link (if available) shows you the list of current subscribers with their full current profiles. The email addresses shown here may be different from the ones that were used at the moment of delivery, and the list, by definition, does not include subscribers that no longer exist.
Clicks Report: This tab shows a more detailed report of the recipients' click activity on the message of the selected job.
Clicking on the "Open Legend" link on the bottom-right corner of the tab opens a panel with a list of details about each entry in the report.
The report contains entries for each URL in the message, clicking on a link in the list in the legend panel opens the List Subscribers Pane for the list that this job was sent to, pre-filtered so that only those subscribers are shown who clicked the link that is covered by the report entry you just clicked on.
If enabled for the mail job, then the report also contains an entry about all sharing clicks on the message. Clicking on the link for this entry also opens the List Subscribers Pane, in this case however pre-filtered so that only those subscribers are shown who shared the message.
Publishing Report: This tab shows a report over the various channels on which the selected job was published, combining the main email channel with social media channels (if any).
Sharing Report: This tab shows a report over how the selected job's message was shared via social media.
If more than one job is selected in the completed jobs list, then the Open and Click Rates Report is displayed in the bottom-right pane of the page. This allows you to easily compare the tracking performance of multiple jobs.
