Define Recipients: Send to a Recipient Target Group
Or from the job list, select the desired job, then in the job details pane, select the Summary tab and click on the Edit link in the Recipients section.
To access the recipients wizard for a given A/B-split job: On the A/B-Split Job Details page, click the Edit link in the Recipients section.
The Define Recipients wizard allows the defining of recipients that will receive the email message specified in the job when the job is finally sent.
The wizard has five pages: Options, Source, Source Details, Recipients Details, Advanced Settings, and Summary.
The top row of the wizard displays links to these five pages. The page that is currently open is marked with a highlighted background color. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Source Page: Select Target Group
A target group in LISTSERV Maestro is a set of email recipients that has been pre-configured by a data administrator. Each target group has a name and description created by the administrator.
This screen displays all available target groups in a tree structure. The tree shows all target group folders in the subscriber warehouse that contain at least one target group. Folders that have no target groups are not shown in the tree.
Navigate to the desired target group and click on it to select it for use in your mail job. The screen will then show the target group name and description, together with the target group "version" (expressed as the date and time when the target group was last modified) and a preview of the available parameters (if any).
Proceed to the Source Details screen to supply the input values for the target group parameters. If the target group does not have any parameters, proceed to the Summary screen to review the results of the target group retrieval.
If a target group is already selected, you can click on Select Different Target Group to select a different one.
If the definition of the target group that is selected has changed since it was selected (the "version" according to the change date of the target group as shown in the recipients wizard is older than the "version" of the original target group definition), then a notification will be displayed that a newer version of the same target group is available and the Get new version of target group link will allow you to update the recipients wizard with that newest version. In this case, any parameter details for the current target group already defined will be reset because they may no longer be applicable with the newer target group version.
If you click the Select Different Target Group link to select a new target group, then the target group selection list will again be displayed on this screen. The Back to Previously Selected Target Group link will allow you to leave the selection list again and retain the previously selected target group unchanged, with all details settings.
However, if you select a new target group, then depending on which new target group you choose, the following may occur:
- Same unchanged target group selected: If you select the same target group
again, where the original target group definition has not been changed (the target group has the
same "version" according to the change date), then this has the same effect as if you had clicked
Back to Previously Selected Target Group; there is no change to the wizard.
- Same target group in a newer version selected: If you select the same
target group again, but the target group definition now has a newer "version" (according to the
change date) than in the wizard, then this has the same effect as if you had clicked the Get new
version of target group link (see above). The wizard will be updated with the newest version
of this target group and any parameter details are reset.
- Different target group selected: If you select a completely different target group from the list, then this overwrites the current settings in the wizard with the new target group.
Note: The name of the target group in the list can be different from the name of the target group that is currently active in the wizard. The target group administrator can change the name of the target group without actually changing the definition.
